Sprint has announced a brand new cellphone for the masses Stateside, where you will be able to pick yet another touchscreen device that also sports a full slide out QWERTY keyboard if you’re a messaging and email fiend – we’re talking about the the Samsung Seek, also known as the Samsung M350 if model numbers are your cup of tea. This 3G phone will come in a trio of color options alongside an easy-to-use, customizable menu system that provides instant access to their favorite features and applications. Basically, this is a phone that aims to bring the best of messaging features as well as multimedia favorites in a compact and stylish design, where you can choose from Cool Blue and Scarlet Red colors for a mere $29.99, with of course, the now customary new two-year service agreement and this also after a $50 mail-in rebate. For those who can wait until June 6th, you will then be able to pick it up in Fantasy Pink.

Apart from being a pretty decent smartphone on paper with 3G connectivity, Samsung and Sprint also have a heart for the environment so those who love the earth will be able to take part in a new recycling solution whenever they pick up the Samsung Seek. How does this green initiative work? Well, customers can easily reuse the packaging to ship old wireless phones, batteries, accessories and data cards with a postage-paid paper mailing label. Basically, this menas you can use the label and box which comes with your phone inside to repackage your old equipment for recycling in under a minute without costing you a single penny more. Sprint will then go ahead to recycle both the equipment and the box. Folks who pick up the Scarlet Red Samsung Seek instead will find the traditional postage-paid envelope made of LDPE #4 recyclable plastic.

Other elements used to package the Samsung Seek include paper-based solutions for the inner tray, bags for literature and the battery, and mailing envelope. There is at least 90% post-consumer waste (PCW) paper fiber which is 100% recyclable in the box and inner tray, where all of it hails from sustainable forests. Top sheets and liners are chlorine-free, printed with soy inks, and have a water-based aqueous coating. Go green while getting a new phone – we hope to see other companies take up similar initiatives as we only have one earth, borrowing it from our kids.

Korean giant Samsung today introduced the latest 450 Series PAVV Fabrizio PDP Series of Plasma TV that is available in both 42 inch and 50 inch models. These PDP TVs feature 600Hz Technology and Samsung’s Crystal Engine. Stay tuned for more updates.

Here are two new members of Samsung’s PAVV Bordeaux LCD. Available in both 40 inch and 46 inch, these Fabrizio 650 LCDs are built on Eco friendly plastics and feature a 120Mhz Full HD panel. These TVs are DLNA and support direct play of many kinds of movies, photo or audio files via its USB port. Other features include four HDMI 1.3 ports.

Samsung Electronics has unveiled a solar-powered full touchscreen phone called “Blue Earth”.

No eco launch is complete without earthy PR speak, so the Blue Earth is apparently designed to “symbolise a flat and well rounded shiny pebble”.

More importantly, the Blue Earth is the first such phone to the market and charges up via the solar panel on the back of the phone, apparently generating enough electronic power to make a call anytime.

Adding to those green credentials, the Blue Earth is made from a recycled plastic called PCM, which is extracted from water bottles.

Both the handset, and its charger, are free from harmful substances such as Brominated Flame Retardants, Beryllium and Phthalate.

Samsung says the Blue Earth comes with a unique user interface designed “to draw attention to preserving our fragile environment”.

Screen brightness, backlight duration and Bluetooth can all be adjusted in an energy-efficient mode called “Eco mode”.

In addition there’s an “eco walk” function that lets the user count their steps with an in-built pedometer, calculating how much CO2 emissions have been reduced (and therefore how many trees have been saved) by walking as opposed to taking the car.

With recycled packaging, and energy efficient charger, the Samsung Blue Earth will be available in the UK during the second half of 2009.

It seems that Samsung is serious in the dual SIM cell phone market. The Korean giant has recently introduced the new Samsung B5702 phone that supports dual SIM and has no touchscreen display. Sadly, there is no further info about this slider phone. We hope that Samsung will announce the B5702 at Mobile World Congress 2009.

Samsung has taken the short and sweet route with its latest entry level slider handset, the S3500. Recently gaining approval from the FCC, chances are this will be available from AT&T or T-Mobile in the US although nothing is finalized yet. The exterior, as you can see on the right, ain’t too shabby looking – in fact, it is pretty decent from all angles, something entry level phones seem to miss out on to show the world a segregation in class. Well it’s no Innov8 but we’re still pretty amazed that Samsung is
actually going to be bringing its 8 megapixel to the US with some 3G
love. No, seriously! The FCC just did its thing, and by that we mean it
let us all know about a handset way ahead of schedule – the Samsung
M8800L. The L variant is basically identical to its European
counterpart but it sports the coveted 850 and 1900 MHz WCDMA bands that
we hope for with each new high-end handset announcement and typically
don’t see. In other words, it looks like AT&T will soon be getting
it’s 8 megapixels on and we can all look forward to some tempting
subsidized pricing. Initial rumors
pointed to T-Mobile as being a potential carrier for this beast of a
camera phone but unless a third version is in the works, it’s
unfortunately not looking overly likely.
