In the past week or so that the iPhone 4 has been available, there’s been one major thing holding people back from from getting one. No, not the antenna issue. Instead, more people I talk to say they’re simply waiting for the white one to come out. Sadly, that’s not happening until the end of this month. But if you have cash to burn and don’t mind taking some risks, you can get one right now. Sort of.

The site WhiteiPhone4Now.com is promising to make you “one of the first in the world to own the white iPhone 4.” How? They have a DIY kit they’re selling to convert your black iPhone 4 into a white one.

The $229 kit includes the following:

* 1 x iPhone 4 Retina Display
* 1 x White iPhone 4 Front Panel
* 1 x White iPhone 4 Back Cover
* 1 x White iPhone 4 Home Button
* 1 x White iPhone 4 Digitizer (enables touch function)
* 1 x White iPhone 4 Front Panel Support Frame

Now, I have no clue if this is simply a bunch of parts from the black iPhone painted white, or if this site has made their own new parts to house your iPhone in a white case. (I assume the former if they’re including a Retina display — or at least, I hope that’s the case.) Hell, I don’t know basically anything about this site. But if you’re really, really desperate to get that white iPhone first, this may be your best bet.

The site includes a link to an iFixit guide for disassembling your iPhone 4 — this is how you’re going to have to build the phone around these new parts yourself. While the site promises that these are “easy to follow instructions,” the whole process involves some 30-plus steps including unscrewing a bunch of things, and using special tools for others. And that doesn’t include putting it back together. Yeah, it basically sounds like a big pain in the ass.

But for an extra $54 + shipping, WhiteiPhone4Now.com claims that another site, BrokeMyiPhone.com, will do the entire process for you (you include the iPhone 4 and these white parts).

The “Terms of Conditions” page on the WhiteiPhone4Now.com also notes at least one big caveat:

You will need to salvage your current iPhone 4′s front earpiece grill, the back cover’s lens cover and LED diffuser for a “complete look”, but the iPhone 4 will be 100% functional without them. As these small parts are not sold anywhere.

So obviously, this is very much try-at-your-own-risk. But if you’re desperate, this may be a way to go. Or you can just wait a few weeks and save yourself $229 and potentially one giant headache.

WhiteiPhone4Now.com promises to ship the first unit July 8. They’ll be doing so on a first-come-first-serve basis.

After WWDC this year, I got a chance to play with the elusive other color. It’s just like the black iPhone 4, but white!

If you love your Croc shoes, then you’ll be excited by this case that uses that same sort of materials to protect the iPhone 4. These cases add a whole lot of bulk to your iPhone, but you’ll be able to toss around your iPhone to your heart’s content. Plus, for those of you that are clumsy it’ll save your iPhone from that sudden impact when it hits the ground.

Now granted it’ll still leave the touchscreen open to use and that also means it could still be damaged. The overall jarring from a fall will be taken care of though. Plus since it is such a bulky case it can be doubled as a stand. I have no idea how they’ll actually fit inside of your pocket though.

This unlocked cell phone can be used with a GSM network service provider and it provides quad-band connectivity (850/900/1800/1900 MHz). It does not come with a SIM card, and it requires that you provide a SIM card for usage with your selected service provider.

Product Description
Calling this a work of art would be an understatement but there is really no other contextual way to describe the aesthetic qualities of this phone. By combining the utilitarian uses that a phone provides, with a design that would be right at home in a gallery, Nokia has something really special on their hands. And if youre one of the lucky ones to get this phone then be prepared to hand it over to friends and family as they ask to get a closer look at it. The scratch-resistant glass is the perfect way to keep the screen free of imperfections and guarantees that you will always have a clear view of your texts and contacts. Tri-Band GSM connections and a 3G Data connection enable this phone to download at a quick pace and keep good reception continuously. The slide mechanism is very sturdy and the display uses OLED technology to reproduce colors in very vivid quality. There are 4 Gigabytes of internal memory so that you can store a variety of multimedia files. Other connections include Bluetooth so that you can connect a headset to the phone and talk hands-free, and a microUSB connection for transferring files. The 3.15 Megapixel Camera is worth a mention because it accurately reproduces colors and displays details that dont look washed out. Sharpness in the photographs it takes are spot on and there is no blurring effect to be found. Thanks to the autofocus feature, pictures rate at a quality that is found in stand alone digital cameras. Once again it must be mentioned that this phone is a work of art and the Carbon fibre and titanium body is a testament to this fact.

he Touch Cruise is one of those smartphones that has at least one great feature worth writing home about with the “Footprint”. This Footprint has nothing to do with carbon, for it is a GPS feature that allows the user to dock the phone in a car cradle and use it like an ordinary Auto Navigation System. This phone/GPS device also uses turn-by-turn navigation, and has another geo-tagging feature that enables the user to take “digital postcards” with a 3.2 megapixel camera. I don’t have any more information than that, but I’m guessing this postcard feature will allow the user to send a picture, audio file, and other notes to someone else with the proper coordinates.

The HTC Touch Cruise has an operating system of Windows Mobile 6.1, and has a 2.8 inch TFT-LCD touch-sensitive screen with a QVGA resolution display. The other features are no surprise: it is also outfitted with Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g and Bluetooth 2.0. It also includes a microSD memory card, with up to 400 minutes talk-time and up to two weeks standby on GSM.

The HTC Touch Cruise will be available in June, where it will be jumping up and down on Oprah’s couch. Oh, sorry, that’s Tom Cruise. I’m not certain what his price is, but the Touch Cruise will be about $600.

Contained in a stainless steel body, the 8800 follows in the footsteps of the 8910, the last handset unveiled by the company to boast a sliding pop-up mechanism. Small, yet heavy, the 8800 measures in at a modest 107 x 45 x 17 mm and weighs 134 g, offering tri-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE 900/1800/1900 MHz. Similar to the recently introduced Nokia 6230i, it also boasts an active TFT display with a resolution of 208 x 208 pixels and 262K colour depth, in addition to a 3D image engine.

An integrated SVGA camera offers still shooting at 0.5 Megapixels and video recording at QCIF resolution, with 64 MB of non-volatile memory available for storage – much needed, as the 8800 does not support memory expansion. Additionally, the 8800 also sports music playback functionality for MP3 and AAC encoded audio, and also integrates an FM radio along with Bluetooth for short-range connectivity.

In creating the 8800, Nokia designers employed watch-making techniques, such as the use of metal injection molding on the function keys. A specially reinforced glass, typically used in luxury timepieces, provides added toughness and scratch-resistance to the front display, whilst the pop-up mechanism releasing the handset from its protective cover relies on a bi-stable spring mechanism and stainless steel ball bearings.

Other highlights of the handset include an integrated handsfree speaker and, on the software side, WAP 2.0 microbrowser, full OMA DRM software, the 2.0 version of Nokia’s Mobile Wallet secure PIM keeper, Java MIDP 2.0 along with exclusive graphics and UI themes developed specifically for the 8800
