In the past week or so that the iPhone 4 has been available, there’s been one major thing holding people back from from getting one. No, not the antenna issue. Instead, more people I talk to say they’re simply waiting for the white one to come out. Sadly, that’s not happening until the end of this month. But if you have cash to burn and don’t mind taking some risks, you can get one right now. Sort of.

The site WhiteiPhone4Now.com is promising to make you “one of the first in the world to own the white iPhone 4.” How? They have a DIY kit they’re selling to convert your black iPhone 4 into a white one.

The $229 kit includes the following:

* 1 x iPhone 4 Retina Display
* 1 x White iPhone 4 Front Panel
* 1 x White iPhone 4 Back Cover
* 1 x White iPhone 4 Home Button
* 1 x White iPhone 4 Digitizer (enables touch function)
* 1 x White iPhone 4 Front Panel Support Frame

Now, I have no clue if this is simply a bunch of parts from the black iPhone painted white, or if this site has made their own new parts to house your iPhone in a white case. (I assume the former if they’re including a Retina display — or at least, I hope that’s the case.) Hell, I don’t know basically anything about this site. But if you’re really, really desperate to get that white iPhone first, this may be your best bet.

The site includes a link to an iFixit guide for disassembling your iPhone 4 — this is how you’re going to have to build the phone around these new parts yourself. While the site promises that these are “easy to follow instructions,” the whole process involves some 30-plus steps including unscrewing a bunch of things, and using special tools for others. And that doesn’t include putting it back together. Yeah, it basically sounds like a big pain in the ass.

But for an extra $54 + shipping, WhiteiPhone4Now.com claims that another site, BrokeMyiPhone.com, will do the entire process for you (you include the iPhone 4 and these white parts).

The “Terms of Conditions” page on the WhiteiPhone4Now.com also notes at least one big caveat:

You will need to salvage your current iPhone 4′s front earpiece grill, the back cover’s lens cover and LED diffuser for a “complete look”, but the iPhone 4 will be 100% functional without them. As these small parts are not sold anywhere.

So obviously, this is very much try-at-your-own-risk. But if you’re desperate, this may be a way to go. Or you can just wait a few weeks and save yourself $229 and potentially one giant headache.

WhiteiPhone4Now.com promises to ship the first unit July 8. They’ll be doing so on a first-come-first-serve basis.

The iPort holder covers the devices in a wall-mounted container with a magnetically attached, rectangular front to turn them into in-wall touchscreens. The CM100 lets you use the Apple devices as a touchscreen controllers and music streamers of both stored tunes and audio from the device’s apps.

CM-IW100T (CM100) is the Control Mount for the iPod touch and the CM-IW2000 (CM2000) is for the iPad. iPort in-wall docking systems for the iPhone will start shipping similar products for the iPod touch and iPad this month, priced at $250 for the CM100 and $499 for the CM2000. I’m still not 100% convinced myself as I prefer to move around with controllers even in the same room. What are your thoughts?

The satellite-based XStreamHD device works on the principle of “pre-fetched entertainment.” basically allowing you to view movies without having to download or stream the content. The data for upto 40 movies is sent to your box during the night ready for you to view at your leisure.

Clocks are full of all sorts of numbers, which does the job perfectly fine.  Except that it’s pretty boring to always read time the same old way.  Instead of just glancing at numbers, you can read the words.  It’s the perfect gift for the wordsmith or scholar in your life.  After all, normal clocks are much better suited for the mathematicians of the world that actually enjoy staring at numbers.

The clock states things in 5 minute intervals.  It states things like “five to three” and “three o’ clock”.  It just flips through all of those words to give you the proper time.  It only comes in the black shown here, so hopefully you’re a fan of black and white.  Unfortunately getting everything spelled out for your comes at a cost.

Sprint has announced a brand new cellphone for the masses Stateside, where you will be able to pick yet another touchscreen device that also sports a full slide out QWERTY keyboard if you’re a messaging and email fiend – we’re talking about the the Samsung Seek, also known as the Samsung M350 if model numbers are your cup of tea. This 3G phone will come in a trio of color options alongside an easy-to-use, customizable menu system that provides instant access to their favorite features and applications. Basically, this is a phone that aims to bring the best of messaging features as well as multimedia favorites in a compact and stylish design, where you can choose from Cool Blue and Scarlet Red colors for a mere $29.99, with of course, the now customary new two-year service agreement and this also after a $50 mail-in rebate. For those who can wait until June 6th, you will then be able to pick it up in Fantasy Pink.

Apart from being a pretty decent smartphone on paper with 3G connectivity, Samsung and Sprint also have a heart for the environment so those who love the earth will be able to take part in a new recycling solution whenever they pick up the Samsung Seek. How does this green initiative work? Well, customers can easily reuse the packaging to ship old wireless phones, batteries, accessories and data cards with a postage-paid paper mailing label. Basically, this menas you can use the label and box which comes with your phone inside to repackage your old equipment for recycling in under a minute without costing you a single penny more. Sprint will then go ahead to recycle both the equipment and the box. Folks who pick up the Scarlet Red Samsung Seek instead will find the traditional postage-paid envelope made of LDPE #4 recyclable plastic.

Other elements used to package the Samsung Seek include paper-based solutions for the inner tray, bags for literature and the battery, and mailing envelope. There is at least 90% post-consumer waste (PCW) paper fiber which is 100% recyclable in the box and inner tray, where all of it hails from sustainable forests. Other features include preloaded premium maps of the US, Canada and Mexico from Tele Atlas, MapShare on demand updates, IQ Routes, over 7 million points of interest, Advanced Lane Guidance and EasyMenu among others. The XL 350 4.3″ model and the XL 550 5.0″ model are also part of the new series, where the X50 range will hit the market later this May from $169 upwards for the 4.3″ model, while the 5″ model will start from $199. If you want to include Lifetime Maps and Lifetime Traffic Updates, those can be purchased by forking out another $30.

Folks who are looking for a cute little portable computing device without cost being a factor might want to look at the new and improved Sony VAIO P Series.
